Dr Luca Cindolo is an Italian urologist whose career spans more than two decades of surgical innovation and service. After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Naples in 1997, he completed a residency in Urology and refined laparoscopic and oncologic skills at Henri-Mondor Hospital in France and other European masterclasses. He earned The Tithe of Fellow of European Board of Urology (FEBU) in 2005 and a PhD in Translational Medicine – Oncology from the University of Chieti in 2018 . He was habilitated as Associate Professor of Urology in 2018.
From 2008 to 2018 Cindolo served as Consultant and later Director of the Robotic Urological Surgery Unit in Abruzzo, pioneering minimally invasive approaches to renal and prostate disease. Since 2018 he is working a Consultan Urologist at Villa Stuart Private Hospital in Rome while leading centre-south development for Centro Urologico Europeo, a network of urological centres he co-founded in 2020.
His current super-specialty is the management of lower urinary tract symptoms management; in 2023 he was recognised as GreenLight , Rezūm “Expert User”. A prolific scholar, he has authored over 290 peer-reviewed articles, holds an h-index of 61, and serves as Associate Editor of Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases. He is an examiner for the EBU and active member of the EAU and leading Italian societies.
Cindolo’s work has been honoured with more than a dozen international prizes, including the Ulrico Bracci Award for the best Italian urological publication of 2015. Beyond the operating theatre he coordinated a Caritas medical mission in Albania in 1999 and co-founded a free clinic for the homeless in Avellino. Fluent in Italian, French and English, he combines technical mastery with a commitment to mentoring the next generation of surgeons. His leadership style is collaborative and focused on innovative patient-centred outcomes
