Dr Arvind P. Ganpule is Vice-Chairman, Department of Urology and Chief, Division of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at the Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH), Nadiad, India. He is empaneled as a faculty by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi (Apex body for Postgraduate Medical education in India). He is a lead robotic surgeon at the premier institute, Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital, Nadiad. He has performed over 800 robotic urologic procedures. Dr Ganpule is among the few surgeons across the globe who have expertise in robotic renal transplantation.
He has 194PubMed-indexedd publications to his credit in reputed peer-reviewed International Journals. In addition, he has authored 26 book chapters and edited six(6)books. He has written chapters in Urology reference books such as Campbell’s Urology, H inman’s Atlas of Urology, and Smith’s textbook of endourology. He was a lead investigator in the most extensive epidemiological study in India, investigating the natural history of BPH in western India. He has innovated a novel low-cost retrieval bag in laparoscopy (the Nadiad bag). He was involved with the MPUH, Nadiad, India team developing the Microperc system with Polydiagnost GmbH. The 5/3 hybrid needle holder, which Dr Ganpule invented, is considered a boon by trainees in urology. He has two patents filed with the Indian Patent Office. Recently, one of his innovations, the laparoscopic needle holder 3/5 prototype, was granteda patent by the Indian Patent Office (Patent number 449275)
He is on the Editorial board of the World Journal of Urology. He has served on the Journal of Minimal Access Surgery board as section editor for Urology. He is currently the Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Urology. He was named the” Best national reviewer” for the IJU and the Endourology Society (Engineering section) in 2012 and 2015.
