This course covers contemporary approaches to reconstruction in the rare cases of female benign urethral reconstruction and penile reconstruction.
Benign pathology of the female urethra is less prevalent, under-reported and poorly understood. The objective is to discuss and teach the diverse group of international audience the basics of and current management concepts of these pathologies of the female urethra. Female urethroplasty has a better success rate than endoluminal procedures such as urethral dilatation and urethrotomy and should be adopted as standard of care. Many urologists are still unaware of the easy and reproducible procedure(s) of female urethroplasty. There are no guidelines for treatment of simple and complex female urethral conditions, and urologists should be familiar with them.
Penile reconstruction and functional restoration have been under-reported, poorly understood and widely under-used, relegating it to high-volume, tertiary centers. The faculty in this course will discuss in detail with a diverse group of international audiences the management options in current use and the latest recommendations to best treat this complex group of patients who have been the target of different types of penile problems associated with functional, oncological, and traumatic clinical entities, some of them revolutionary in nature.
