Dr. Olagunju Tunde Ajani ( FWACS, FMCS), is a Urologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Lagos, Nigeria, with interest in urologic oncology, renal transplantation, vascular surgery, endourology, minimally invasive surgery. He is recognized for his clinical excellence, commitment to advancing surgical care, and dedication.
Dr. Olagunju earned his medical degree from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and completed his residency training in urology at LASUTH, l Ikeja, Lagos, having passed both postgraduate college exams at a single sitting. Over the course of his career, he has participated in renal transplant programmes done in LASUTH and other centres in Nigeria.
At LASUTH, he ensures his clinical practice goes with academics. He actively teaches residents, medical students, interns, and nurses, ensuring that all cadres of healthcare professionals are equipped with theoretical basics of clinical practice and the values of patient-centred care.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Edinburgh Surgery Online Global Scholarship Award, an honour that underscores his commitment to advancing surgical knowledge and leadership in global health. In addition, he is a proud Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), a professional affiliation that connects him to a distinguished community of surgeons worldwide
Dr. Olagunju research interests center on prostate cancer, with particular focus on genetic studies, epigenetic studies, mutation studies, and the development of biomarkers in prostate cancer. These research efforts aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, personalize treatment strategies, and ultimately enhance outcomes for patients affected by prostate cancer.
He has presented at national conferences and In the future, Dr. Olagunju aspires to expand his work in urologic oncology, renal transplantation, vascular surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing Scrabble, continuous learning, travelling, and discovering new cultures, activities that enrich his perspective and complement his professional pursuits.
