Taiwo Opeyemi Alabi, is a Nigerian-trained Urologist with bias in Minimal Access urology viz: Endourology, Laparoscopy and Robotically Assisted Surgery.
He had his residency training in urology at the prestigious Lagos University Teaching Hospital and thereafter became board certified by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria as a Fellow Medical College of Surgeon in Urology. He is a recipient of the prestigious Sir Manuwa award of the best candidate in the faculty of surgery in 2016. He was appointed a consultant urologist at Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, Lagos in 2017 where he was the first urologist employed by the institution and was responsible for pioneering endourology in the institution. He has done over 3,000 endourological procedures covering both upper and lower tract including both Prone and supine Mini-PCNL as well as Prone and Supine Endoscopic combined ECIRS.
His recent investment in both training and acquisition of state-of-the-art laparoscopic equipment paid off very rapidly as he has subsequently performed scores of Laparoscopically-assisted procedures viz: radical prostatectomy, Nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, pyelolithotomy, pyeloplasty, ureteroneocystostomy and varicocoelectomy.
He is a regular invited faculty at various endourological workshops both locally internationally where he demonstrates RIRS, Sheathless and Fluoroless Flexible Ureterorenoscopy, Mini-PCNL(supine and prone) as well as supine and prone ECIRS.
He is a member of the Nigerian Association of Urological Surgeon(NAUS) workshop committee and a regular faculty at both the quarterly and annual NAUS endourological workshops
He was nominated in 2024 as the co-chair of the NAUS committee on endourology and laparoscopy.
He has published 16 peer-review articles and presented over 30 abstracts in both local and international journals and conferences respectively.
He is the current head of urology unit at the Grandville Medical Centre, Lagos.
