Dr. Markos Karavitakis is a Urological Surgeon based in Athens, Greece, and serves as Chair of the 2nd Department of Urology at Lefkos Stavros Hospital, Athens. He is also the Vice-Chair of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Patient Office.
After completing his basic urological training in Greece, he pursued a fellowship in laparoscopic and robotic surgery at Clinique Saint Augustin, Bordeaux, France under the supervision of Prof. R. Gaston. He further consolidated his experience in laparoscopic and endourological surgery at Hospital Pontevedra, Spain, and Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College London NHS Trust, UK.
Dr. Karavitakis holds a PhD from the University of Athens, as well as two Master’s Degrees: one in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Telesurgery from the University of Athens, and another in Surgical Science from Imperial College London.
His main clinical and research expertise lies in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as endourology. He has lectured internationally and published extensively on topics related to minimally invasive and functional urology.
He is currently a member of the EAU Guidelines Office (Male LUTS Panel) and serves on the Examination Committee of the European Board of Urology (EBU).
