Dr Ranga E Wickramarachchi is a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Faculty of Medicine, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, and a Consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospital KDU, Sri Lanka.
He graduated from Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (2004) with 2nd Class Honours, winning Professor M T M Jiffry Gold Medal for the best performance at Final MBBS examination and ranked 4th in the all-island merit list.
He completed his postgraduate training in Urology under the guidance of Professor Neville D Perera and Mr Bordhan Parys at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust UK, respectively
He has won many awards including Dr Vrasapillai Gabriel Memorial Gold Medal for the best performance at MD Surgery (July 2010), National Research Council Merit Award for Scientific Publications 2010, best paper award at the Annual Academic Sessions of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka 2009 and Urological Association of Asia Youth Section Fellowship Award 2017. His key interest areas in Urology are Uro-oncology, Endourology, Functional Urology and Urology Training and Education. He has numerous audits, research, and publications and has been a presenter/ invited speaker in many academic meetings both local and international.
Dr Wickramarachchi had been the Honorary Secretary of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka in 2021 and Honorary Secretary of the Sri Lanka Association of Urological Surgeons in 2017-2018. He had been the Secretary of the Specialty Board in Urological Surgery at the PGIM from October 2018 to September 2022. He had been the Co-Editor of the Sri Lanka Association of Urological Surgeons and the Sri Lanka Journal of Urology (2019-2023). He is the Honorary Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Association of Urological Surgeons at present.
