Dr Charles Waihenya Githiaka, Honorary Lecturer and Research Fellow, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. I hold a Master's degree in Surgery and a Fellowship in Urology, and currently completing my PhD. I have published widely in peer-reviewed journals. I am a Urological surgeon with expertise in Urological Oncology. I manage patients with general urological diseases inclusive of urological cancers more so with prostate and bladder cancers. I’m currently practicing at Kenyatta National Hospital, teaching and referral and MP Shah hospital a private hospital in Nairobi Kenya. I am also a Honorary Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Nairobi teaching and supervising under and postgraduate students. I am a member of the African Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3) and I am the PI for the Nairobi site for several projects under this consortium, the International Registry for men with advanced prostate cancer (IRONMAN), the African Cancer Genome Registry (ACGR), and the Single Cell Sequencing Study. Together, these projects are recruiting African men with prostate cancer and women with breast and ovarian cancers. I have an interest in understanding the various disparities that exist in prostate cancer disease between the various people of different racial backgrounds and especially the African race
