Consultant Urological Surgeon
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom
I completed my medical undergraduate studies at Dow University of Health Sciences, Pakistan.
I completed my Urological specialist training in Wales and Northern Ireland and completed FRCS and FEBU exams. I was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, University of Dundee from 2017-2023. My sub-specialist interest during this period was exclusively in renal cancers with expertise in both open and minimally invasive surgeries. I have remained a keen and dedictaed trainer and have mentored several Urology residents who have subsequently pursued renal cancers as a career. In addition, I have served as a course director and faculty at several Urological courses in the UK affiliated with Royal Colleges and Cusheiri Skills Centre, University of Dundee.
I have been appointed as a Consultant at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary since 2024. While my interest in Renal cancers continues, my current sub-specialist area in current position is predominantly focused on bladder cancers.
During my career I have remained dedicated to academic work with over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching and training in low-resource setups perhaps has been the highlight of my career. I have been involved in several hands-on training workshops in Ethiopia, Senegal, Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana and Pakistan. I am the founder of organisation UROLAP (www.urolap.org) which remains dedicated in promoting laparoscopic and endourology training in Africa. I am a qualified Public Health professional (MPH, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) which provides me more insight in understanding healthcare challenges in low-resource setups and establishing services.
