Maurice M. Garcia, MD, MAS is Clinical Professor of Urologic Surgery In-Residence at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he serves as Director of the Cedars-Sinai Transgender Surgery and Health Program.
Dr. Garcia completed his residency in Urology and Fellowship training in Andrology and Neurourology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He completed a 2-year Master’s Degree in Clinical Research in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at UCSF. He then completed clinical fellowships in masculinizing [FtM] and feminizing [MtF] genital gender affirming surgery in London and Brighton, UK.
Dr. Garcia specializes in genital reconstructive surgery, including gender affirming masculinizing and feminizing genital surgery, neurourology, sexual medicine. He is associate Professor of Urology and Director for the Transgender Surgery and Health Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Garcia is the Fellowship Director for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Transgender Surgery and Health Program’s Genital Reconstruction fellowship for urologists and plastic surgeons.
He is a member of the American Urologic Association (AUA), European Urologic Association (EAU) International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA), and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and is co-author of the upcoming WPATH Standards of Care clinical care guidelines v8.0. He serves as the American Urologic Association (AUA) Core Curriculum Section Editor for Transgender Surgery.
Dr. Garcia completed NIH K08 research training grant #K08HD069462 and is currently Principal Investigator for NIH R01 Research Grant #1R01CA201709-01 (Bladder fiducial markers and multiparametric-MRI (mp-MRI) to optimize total bladder preservation with chemo-radiotherapy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer). He is P.I. for several clinical trials focused on transgender surgery and health.
