Surgical fellow
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust, United Kingdom
I am a junior surgical fellow currently working at Southampton General Hospital, where I have been based since August 2022. I graduated from medical school in Egypt in 2020 and subsequently completed my internship year, equivalent to the UK Foundation Year 1 (FY1), in 2021. Following this, I undertook and successfully passed the PLAB examinations, gaining full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in March 2022.
Since beginning my clinical practice in the UK, I have gained broad experience in surgical specialties, with a growing interest in both Urology and Breast Surgery. Working within a dynamic surgical team at a major teaching hospital has allowed me to develop essential clinical and operative skills, while also becoming familiar with the NHS system and multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
My current goal is to build a competitive portfolio as I prepare to apply for national training posts in Urology ST3 and General Surgery ST3 in November 2025 application cycle. I am particularly drawn to Urology due to its combination of operative diversity, evolving technology, and patient continuity, and I am equally engaged by the technical precision required in Breast Surgery. I remain committed to ongoing learning and professional development in surgical practice.
