Ugur Selek graduated from Hacettepe University, School of Medicine (English), in 1997, and was certified by ECFMG in USA. He completed his Radiation Oncology Residency Program in Hacettepe University in 2001. Between 2001 and 2003, he worked at University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, as a Clinical Fellow focusing on IMRT and Stereotactic Radiotherapy, and was awarded with "First Annual M.D. Anderson Radiation Oncology Fellow Research Award" in 2003. After his appointment as Assistant Professor in 2004, he became an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Hacettepe University in 2006. Dr Selek is currently Professor & Past Chair of Department of Radiation Oncology at Koc University School of Medicine, and Chair of Department of Radiation Onclogy at VKV American Hospital in Istanbul; while he served as an adjunct faculty of U.T. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, Houston, TX from January 2009 to December 2022. Dr. Selek is a co-editor of 6 Springer books, and has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8087-3140) and book chapters. He was awarded as “Fellow of American Society for Radiation Oncology – ASTRO” (FASTRO) in 2019. He is Radiation Oncology section national delegate at The European Union of Medical Specialists since 2022. He has recently served as “ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium Committee Member” between 2021-2023. He is past president of “Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology (TROD, 2023-2025)”, and a current member of “ASTRO International Committee”. He has just been awarded as the 2024 Gold Medalist of MD Anderson Alumni Gilbert Fletcher Society.
