Dr. Gust is trained urologist, head of uro-oncology at the Medical University of Vienna, Vice-chair of the Austrian uro-oncology working group (AUO) and specialized in urothelial cancer and systemic therapies. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Ulm, Germany, he began his training with Prof. Hautmann at the Department of Urology (University of Ulm, Germany), followed by a post-doctoral research fellowship with Dr. Black at the Vancouver Prostate Centre (Canada). He continued his training at the Department of Urology (University of Frankfurt, Germany) to complete his board exam in urology in 2015 and became Fellow of the European Board of Urology.
Since 2016 he is faculty member at the Department of Urology, Medical University of Vienna (Prof. Shariat). He is author of and co-authored more than 100 publications. His research focus is on bladder cancer and involved basic research defining the role of NOTCH signaling and FGFR-3 as therapeutic target. Since 2012 he took part in more than 20 clinical trials as sub- or principle investigator, is member of several advisory boards and reviewer for more than 25 peer-reviewed medical journals.
