Dr. Michail Samarinas is a Consultant Urologist and Assistant Professor of Urology at the 2nd Urology Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, based at Papageorgiou General Hospital. His clinical and academic focus lies in Functional and Neuro-Urology, with particular expertise in Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS).
He holds both an MD and a PhD from the University of Thessaly. He has received international training in Neuro-Urology, including a fellowship at UZ Ghent in Belgium, and has served as scientific head of the Urology Department at the General Hospital of Larissa.
Dr. Samarinas is an internationally recognized expert in IC/BPS. He serves on the guideline panel of the International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI), is a Board Member of the International Society for the Study of BPS (ESSIC), and an Associate Member of the European Section of Functional Urology (ESFU) of the European Association of Urology (EAU). He has also served as Vice President of the Hellenic Urological Society’s ONOGO committee and as a member of its Central Patient Office Council.
He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, contributed chapters in several urology textbooks, and has received multiple awards at national and international congresses. As a key lecturer and invited speaker, he has presented in over 40 scientific events globally.
Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Samarinas is active as a reviewer and guest editor in high-impact medical journals.
