Simpa S. Salami, M.D., M.P.H. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified Urologic Oncologist and Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Michigan. He serves as the Associate Director, Research Workforce and Leadership Development at the Rogel Cancer Center. Dr. Salami is a surgeon-scientist, whose laboratory focuses on developing novel cancer biomarkers to overcome tumor heterogeneity and multifocality as well as elucidate optimal paradigms for early detection, risk stratification, and treatment of urologic cancers. His lab also collaborates with investigators to understand the molecular underpinnings of urologic cancers and associated disparate outcomes. His research is supported by multiple sources and includes funding from the Department of Defense, National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Prostate Cancer Foundation. He is a recipient of several awards including an NCI R37 MERIT award, the 2024 American Urology Association Gold Cystoscope award, and named one of the inaugural Biden White House Cancer Moonshot Scholars.
