This Interactive Session is organized by the Neurourology Promotion Committee (NPC) of the International Continence Society (ICS). ICS has been advancing multidisciplinary continence research and education worldwide since 1971. The mission of the ICS-NPC is to provide theoretical and practical education in the field of Neurourology.
The session provides an overview of the Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction (NLUTD). Pathophysiology and management of NLUTD will be addressed. A comprehensive overview of urodynamic studies, focusing on their application in patients with NLUTD will be discussed.
Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the essential issues that are required for upper urinary tract protection. Additionally, they will get familiar with the management strategy for gaining continence, if possible. The principles, techniques, and interpretation of urodynamic tests, emphasizing their role in diagnosing and managing of NLUTD will be discussed, as well.
The session covers specific challenges and adaptations required for neurogenic patients, including spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, and other neurodegenerative diseases. Case studies will enhance understanding and equip attendees with the skills to implement best practices in clinical settings.
